Polyurethane (solvent free)
UBIS Polyurethane Solvent-Free Adhesives are high-performance, two-component systems for flexible packaging. These adhesives eliminate the need for ovens to remove solvents, saving costs and boosting operational efficiency. Converters apply the adhesives using specialized laminators to bond multiple substrates—including films, foils, and paper—creating robust, multi-layer packaging for everything from food to high-performance retort pouches.
HOW THEY WORK
- Two-Component Systems: An isocyanate and a polyol are mixed together; they immediately react to form a strong polyurethane bond.
- 100% Active Ingredients: Unlike solvent-based alternatives, these adhesives contain no solvent or water carrier, meaning they release zero volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
- Rapid Curing: The adhesives cure quickly after mixing and application, significantly increasing production speeds.
ADVANTAGES
- Operational Efficiency: The system eliminates large drying ovens, saving energy and freeing up floor space.
- Cost Savings: Converters reduce energy costs and achieve faster production rates.
- Environmental Advantages: The adhesives reduce or eliminate VOC emissions, creating a safer, more sustainable lamination process.
- Versatility: The adhesives work seamlessly on a wide variety of materials, including PET, PE, PP films, foils, and paper.
- Performance: They create strong, durable laminations for all packaging needs, from standard food wraps to demanding high-temperature applications.
APPLICATION
The process applies the adhesives to one substrate using a special laminator and a smooth roll transfer coating technique. Then, it nips a second substrate to the first to form the lamination.
