• MFG/MFD stands for Manufacturing Date/Manufactured Date, indicating the day the product was produced.
• EXP/EXD stands for Expiry Date/Expiration Date, denoting the day the product expires.
• BBF/BBE stands for Best Before/Best Before End, signifying the recommended consumption date.

The shelf life of food refers to its expiration date (EXP), which is the time when the food becomes unsafe or significantly changes in quality, such as developing a smell, clumping, changing color, separating layers, etc., starting from the time the food is packaged, as per regulations set by Food and Drugs Administration. In our household, either BB or EXP can be specified. BB for all types of food will always be a period before EXP. For instance, if Food A has an EXP of 6 months and a BB of 4 months, it means Food A can be safely consumed for 2 months after the BB has passed (6-4=2 months).

อายุการเก็บของอาหาร คือ วันหมดอายุ (Expiration Date=EXP ) คือ เวลาที่อาหารนั้นเสื่อมคุณภาพจนทำให้ไม่ปลอดภัยในการบริโภค หรือมีคุณสมบัติเปลี่ยนไปอย่างชัดเจน เช่น เหม็นหืน เกาะกันเป็นก้อน สีเปลี่ยน แยกชั้น เป็นต้น โดยนับตั้งแต่อาหารนั้นบรรจุในบรรจุภัณฑ์ ตามกฎระเบียบของ อย. ในบ้านเรา ระบุ BB หรือ EXP ก็ได้ BB ของอาหารทุกชนิดจะเป็นช่วงต้น ของ EXP เสมอ เช่น อาหาร A EXP 6 เดือน BB 4 เดือน แปลว่าอาหาร A ยังทานได้อย่างปลอดภัย หลังจาก BB แล้ว 6-4=2 เดือน
